This Chester County Armory sale listing is for an investment grade Egyptian Maadi Co. AKM 7.62x39mm fully transferable AK-47 select-fire machine gun imported, converted, and registered by Steyr of Secaucus, NJ.
Egyptian Maadi Company manufactured AK’s have long been coveted for their superior quality to most other AK’s available in the US. Built by the Maadi Co. on original Russian tooling with Russian engineers initially seeing the setup of the Maadi factory in Cairo, the models produced there are some of the closest examples one can get to true Russian AKM’s. Created virtually identical to their Russian counterparts, including to such minute details as palm swells in the furniture and pin locations, this Maadi Company AKM was originally built as a semi-automatic rifle in the famed Factory 54 in Cairo, Egypt. It was then imported into the US by Steyr-Daimler-Puch’s US facility in Secaucus, NJ. According to the former NFA paperwork from which we received this model, Steyr was responsible for the conversion and NFA registration of this weapon using the original factory information. The current eForm 3 paperwork lists “Maadi Co. (Factory 54)” as the manufacturer and “AKM” as the model.
This AKM is in absolutely outstanding, like-new condition. It appears to have been fired very little. The internal mechanisms show very little wear. The bolt face is clean and strong. The bore is bright and shiny with crisp, clean, well-delineated rifling. The bolt carrier and bolt assembly note only minor wear at the lockup positions. The receiver rails note only minor wear markings at the bolt carrier group metal-to-metal contact points. The piston head is clean and high-polished.
Cosmetically, this amazing weapon is also in like-new condition, with only very limited handling marks noted in the matte finish. The selector lever engagement does note the tell-tale “AK line” from physical manipulation, along with a corresponding small mark at the gas black takedown lever, but apart from those, the finish is completely intact on all other areas of the weapon. The original laminated wood stock and forend assembly are beautiful and have been finished in a high gloss with virtually no handling marks.
This rarely-seen, investment grade Maadi AKM transferable machine gun is in spectacular condition, and is sure to increase in NFA value. It is currently on a Form 3 for quick and easy transfer.
