This Chester County Armory listing is for a spectacular condition, like-new, Sterling Mk V (Mark 5) L34A1 9x19mm integrally suppressed transferable submachine gun.
Arguably the quietest integrally suppressed submachine gun design ever made, this Sterling-Patchett Mark 5 was manufactured and NFA registered by Interport, Inc. using original British Sterling Mk 5 parts. The suppressor utilized was registered by Silver Bullet LTD and serial numbered to match the transferable submachine gun. Unlike most transferable Mk 5’s seen available for sale, this suppressor model also proudly displays a bottom stock latch, allowing the handguard to be removed and the stock to still be folded and secured in a forward position, making it identical in operation to the actual British models. The British military version of the Mk V (the L34A1) does not have the wooden forend, but instead has the forward stock latch incorporated into the suppressor tube, just as this model features. The wooden forend stocks were only made available for Sterling Mk V’s intended for commercial sales or export from Great Britain. The vast majority of Mk5’s that are seen on the US market are only capable of the taking a wooden forend, and do not have the ability to do both, as was originally intended for the weapon.
This fully transferable machine gun is in absolutely pristine condition compare to most versions available, and appears to have been fired VERY little. The internals note no visible wear and are in like-new condition. The bolt remains crisp and clean, with its original finish. The bore remains bright and shiny, with crisp, clean rifling. Cosmetically, the exterior crinkle finish is wonderful, with no scratches, dings, dents, etc. Handling marks are extremely limited, and only noticeable with a VERY discerning eye. The wood forearm is also in excellent condition, and notes no cracks, scratches, gouges, etc.
This transferable sub machine gun is correctly marked as “SMG 9m/m MK5” directly below the Sterling rectangle logo on the top of the magazine well. It also features the correct clover-leaf style flip up rear sight, as well as the larger hole rear sight aperture.
This fully transferable integrally suppressed machine gun will require two NFA stamps for transfer (machine gun and suppressor). The current NFA Form 3 for this transferable submachine gun lists “Interport, INC. St. George, UT” as the manufacturer and “MK 5” as the model. The Form 3 for the suppressor lists “Silver Bullet LTD. Linden, NV” as the manufacturer and “N/A” as the model. Both serial numbers for these NFA items are identical.
